In order to prevent the potential spread of illness on class materials, Nurturing Parenting Class is postponed by one week. Class will now begin Feb 22 and will be held every Tuesday and Thursday at 6 PM for 5 weeks on WebEx. Class materials will be distributed when children are picked up on Monday Feb 21. Attention families: the Las Animas classroom is closing today (February 10) due to COVID exposure. Parents will need to pick up children by 9:30 a.m. Staff will work regular schedules and prepare for children to return on February 21. If your child experiences symptoms related to COVID-19, please contact your local health department or primary care provider.

Nurturing Parenting Classes for Spring will begin Tues. Feb. 15th and will be held every Tues and Thurs at 6 PM. In an effort to keep participants and facilitators safe and healthy, these will be held virtually via WebEx. Register as soon as possible by emailing Cassie at cassandra.maurer@ojc.edu. I will need an accurate head count in order to make enough workbooks. This class will be held in both English and Spanish.

From Las Animas Head Start: Reminder- Today is the last day for Parent Teacher Conferences and all conferences must be completed by the end of the day. If you have not yet had your child's Parent Teacher Conference and do not have one scheduled today with Ms Allyana, it is very important that you call to arrange one as this means we are having trouble reaching you. Due to last week's possible exposure, we regret that we must ask for conferences to be adults only for this checkpoint as we cannot allow the children back into the building until we re-open on Monday. You can reach Ms Allyana at 719-384-3180 to arrange a meeting.

Reminder: There will be no school for Las Animas Head Start this week due to a possible Covid-19 exposure. Please, monitor for symptoms and follow up with the local Health Dept. or your Primary Care Provider as appropriate. Please, also inform us if your child develops symptoms or has a positive test so that we can ensure we are taking appropriate steps to keep our students and staff healthy. Regular services are planned to resume February 7th. Thank you.

We are preparing for our Winter/Spring offering of Nurturing Parenting Class. In order to limit the spread of illness through our center and through our community, Family Night will be held in virtual format tonight. From Las Animas Head Start: Due to the number of children and staff who are currently ill, tonight's Family Night is canceled. Regular School Service are continuing as usual. We will continue to take precautions to prevent the spread of illness in our center. Please keep sick children home, even if symptoms are slight. Children exhibiting signs/symptoms during the check in process will be required to return home per Covid-19 protocol and procedures. If sympyoms develop after arrival, CDS staff are required to notify you to please pick your child up. Please help us to keep our families and community safe and healthy. Thank you.

From Las Animas Head Start: Weather will be VERY cold today. The SAFETY of your children and our staff is always our top priority. Please be aware of the following in order to do your part in keeping everyone safe today: We will be having recess inside today, but please be sure to dress your child warmly with appropriate winter wear (coat, gloves, etc). Our usual Drop Off window will be shortened slightly this morning to protect staff from the cold weather. We will bring children in starting at 7:55 instead of 7:45. Please line up in the drive thru lane as usual, and REMAIN IN YOUR VEHICLE until you have reached the VERY FRONT of the line. This will help our line move more quickly and get children and staff into the heated building as quickly as possible. If you arrive after the 7:55 to 8 am window and staff are not visible outside, please STAY IN YOUR VEHICLE and CALL the center so we can come get your child and you are not having to wait in the cold at the door. 719-384-3180 Weather officials advise AGAINST walking in this weather.
