
Due to dangerously cold temperatures and wind chill factors, Otero College Child Development Services centers in Lamar, Las Animas, La Junta, Rocky Ford, Manzanola and Boone will have delayed starts on Tuesday, Jan. 16. Staff will report by 9 a.m. School will begin at 9:30 a.m. Please stay warm!

Attention CDS families: Due to bus issues related to the cold weather, Rocky Ford Grand Valley is on a one-hour delay and Manzanola is on a two-hour delay this morning. Buses will run but will be delayed. If you choose to drive your child to the center at the normal time, staff will be available.

Attention CDS families: Lamar Center will be on a 2-hour delay Tuesday for children and a 1-hour delay for Lamar staff.
La Junta, Las Animas, Rocky Ford, Manzanola and Boone centers will resume regular hours. Transportation will run as normal at those centers that provide transportation.

Reminder: Otero College Child Development Services Head Start students will have early release at noon on Thursday, October 19 and Thursday, October 26.

Periodically, staff has the opportunity to participate in wellness activities led by our Wellness team in conjunction with the WELL (Wellbeing of the ECE Workforce in Low-resourced Locations) program. Recently, staff completed mindfulness calendars and submitted them to be entered into a drawing for prizes donated by WELL. Otero College Child Development Services hosted the Tryke Races Saturday in La Junta. The event was part of La Junta Chamber of Commerce's Early Settlers Day celebration and sponsored by DeBourgh Manufacturing. CDS gave participating children helmets, knee pads and elbow pads. Thank you to everyone who participated and volunteered for the event!
